Mental state assessments of intensive care nurses

This study was carried out as a cross-sectional type descriptive study in order to determine the problems encountered by nurses who work in intensive care unit, to determine the problems faced by nurses and to determine and evaluate their psychological status. The universe of the study was carried out between JanuaryFebruary 2019 on the nurses working in the intensive care units of Numune Training and Research Hospital and Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. The sample was completed with 114 intensive care nurses who did not identify and agreed to participate in the study. The data of the study were collected through the Intensive Care Nurses Introducing Questionnaire, General Health Questionnaire, Barratt Impulsivity Scale and Beck Hopelessness Scale. The data obtained from the study were analyzed by using SPSS 21 package program. In addition to frequency distributions related to data, Mann-Whitney U test was used for two-group comparisons, and Kruskall-Wallis H test was used for comparisons with three or more groups. Correlation analysis was used to measure the relationship between variables. A significance level of 0.05 was used, p <0.05 if there was a significant difference in the case, p> 0.05 is stated that there is no significant difference in the case. The mean score of GHQ of the intensive care nurses participating in the study was 8.21 ± 6.6; The mean tır impulsivity general 6.2 score was 62.89 ± 8.76, and the mean of 6 hopelessness 62 was 6.26 ± 4.45. It was observed that the sociodemographic characteristics of the nurses and the working conditions of the nurses affect their mental status.
