Transcription and evaluation of ayntab judicial record numbered 148

Judicial records, which are the court records of the Otoman Empire, are among the primary sources for Ottoman local management researches. The Registers do not only manifest local differences but also help researchers reach more general conclusions.Ayıntab judicial Record Number 148, has been composed of totally 270 pages. In this research, the transcription of 135 pages from first half of judicial record has been done. The present study is based on judicial records of Ayntab Local Court for the years 1288-1291 (Lunar Calendar- Hijrah) / 1871-1874 AD.In our study, after giving information about ?court and Kadı in the state of Ottoman, we classified the documents in the records, gave their summary and transcription and we wade a short evolution of the subjects.In this study, it was partially made possible to get a gist of the social, cultural, economical life in Ayıntab in late 19th century.Key Words: Judicial records, Ayıntab, estate
