Abstract (EN)

When we examine the meaning of the word irony, it is seen that the act and action in Greek mean the opposite of each other. The purpose of irony is to express what is meant without being said rather than understanding what is said. This corresponds to the demonstration of the conflict and contradiction hidden behind the visible image. The concept of irony has undergone many changes and developments until it takes its current form. But it is accepted by most researchers that the birth of irony began with Socrates' questioning. Irony is often taken as negation, contrast, and nothingness in everything. For this reason, it is important that it does not appear as it is when examining irony and that what is said and what is meant is different. The common aspect of all the definitions of irony is that the statement that is said seriously allows for contradictions and illusions. When we examine our writers between 1970-1980, the topics covered in the works appear as socialization and individualization. The political, social, cultural and social breaks and the speed of change experienced in this period have been the subject of the works. At the same time, the authors tried to explain what they wanted to tell over the topics and heroes they chose. In our literature, which is under the influence of modernism, it is seen that subjects are expressed more verbally such as unconscious, unconscious and feelings instead of clear expressions and forms such as consciousness. The authors we have examined in terms of the subject of our thesis frequently benefited from irony while describing the conditions and thoughts of their period. They took care to convey the irony through the words used, the places, objects and the mental state of the heroes. As a result, irony emerges as a form of expression used to convey the psychology of individuals and society to the reader with the help of metaphors, spaces and objects. Keywords: Turkish storytelling, irony, place, individual
