Abstract (EN)
This thesis which elaborates the formation of UK?s Iraq policy in the first quarter of 20th Century and the significance of the Middle East consists of an introduction, four chapters, a conclusion and resources.The first chapter analyzes the location and the importance in the world?s political and economic history of the Middle East, the power struggle among world powers for this region, and the ruling of Iraq by the Ottoman Empire.The second chapter explains in detail the attempts of UK to gain control over India, Egypt and Persian Gulf.The third chapter examines the competition for oil and railway between the Ottoman Empire and UK.The fourth chapter studies the UK?s attempt to exploit the Arabs towards its own policies, the Iraqi front during the 1st World War, the establishment of a mandated territory in Iraq, and the capturing of Mosul by UK.Consequently, this thesis elaborates on the fundamentals of UK?s Iraq policy and its attempts to control the region.Key Words:1.United Kingdom2.Middle East3.Oil4.Ottoman Empire5.Iraq
