Analysis of the impact of some macroeconomic indicators on the phenomenon of unemployment in Iraq for the period from 2003 to 2020

The concept of unemployment becomes a global phenomenon. It is a major indicator for the strength and weakness of every country's economy. Iraqi economy depends mainly on oil. Its oil secter generate enormous revenues; nevertheless, it didn't intercede to eliminate the phenomenon of unemployment. This research aims to present and discuss the theoretical framework of unemployment, with the focus on Iraq as case study. Also, it aims to study the impact of macroeconomic indicators of unemployment on Iraq. The researcher chose the three most important indicators: The relationship of unemployment to GDP, the relationship of unemployment to inflation, the relationship of unemployment to government spending, and the assessment and analysis of these relationships for the period 2003-2020. After collecting, examining and analyzing the data, the research came with the following results: Unemployment in Iraq is affected by the three macroeconomic indicators: Gross domestic product, public spending, and the rate of inflation in a declining rate.
