Abstract (EN)
The pre-school period, which is the most effective stage in the social development of the child, is very important in terms of the development of social competence behaviors. The social competence level guides the child's problems in the society and the ways of solving these problems, the forms of communication he establishes with the family and peers around him, the shaping of his behaviors, and the formation of his personality. The main purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between social competence levels and behavioral problems in children aged 4-6 years, according to demographic data. 130 children, 88 girls and 42 boys, were selected in the study. The research includes kindergartens in Bahçelievler in Istanbul. Social competence and behavior assessment scale and School Social Behavior Problems Screening Scale were used as data collection tools within the scope of the research. At the end of the research, a moderate and positive significant relationship was found between social competence and social competence, interpersonal relations, self-control skills and academic skills. In addition, a moderate and negative significant relationship was found between social competence and negative social behaviors, aggressive angry behaviors, and antisocial/aggressive and destructive demanding behaviors. In this context, school counselors can plan educational programs for children and their families so that students can improve their early development characteristics, positive self-perceptions and awareness.
