Analyzing the quality of sexual life and marital adjustment of women with menstrual irregularity

Objective: This research is performed to analyze the quality of sex life and marital adjustment of women with menstrual irregularity. Materials and Methods: This descriptive research was performed in a gynecology outpatient clinic of a state hospital in the city center of Adana, between August 2015-September 2016. The population included women applied with menstrual irregularity.to the gynecology outpatient clinic of the hospital. Research sample included a total of 211 women who met the participation criteria of the study and accepted to participate in the study. Collection of data was performed using "Personal Information Form", "The Sexual Quality of Life-Female (SQOLF)" and "Marital Adjustment Test (MAT)". Data analysis was done using SPSS 16.0 package program. Results: The mean of the total SQOL-F scores of the women with menstrual irregularity was 60,93± 14,61, and the mean of their total MAT scores was 48,68±4,18. A statistically significant correlation was detected between the mean SQOL-F scores and the informative characteristics (except the employment and social security status of their spouse) and the obstetrical characteristics of women (p<0.05). A statistically significant correlation was detected between the women's habit of sharing their complaints only on the menstrual irregularity and their mean SQOLF and MAT scores (p<0.05). A statistically significant positive correlation was detected between SQOL-F and MAT (r=0,589 p<0,001). Conclusion: It was found that women with menstrual irregularity have poor quality of sex life and most of them don't have marital adjustment.
