Abstract (EN)

Introduction and Aim: In our study, it was aimed to investigate the types of trauma causing the face injury, to reveal the rates of the permanent facial scar and permanent facial deformation, to compare our results with studying in literature and to contribute the data to literature. Materials and Methods: In our study, cases with face injury in 4215 traumatic cases retrospectively investigated in terms of permanent facial scar and permanent facial deformation in Dicle University Faculty of Medicine Department of Forensic Medicine between January 1, 2014-31, December 2018. Results: The distribution of the 409 cases by gender was 314 (76,8%) male, 95 (23,2%) female. Maximum cases were sent by law enforcements with 245 (59,9%). Analysis of the trauma cases revealed that most of cases are the assault and batteries with 176 (43,0%). In 76 (18.6%) of the cases, it was reported as permanent facial scar, and in 3 (0.7%) it was reported as a permanent facial deformation. Conclution: It was observed that there were differences between the literature and the comparison of the publications in the literature with each other. we believe that it would be appropriate to evaluate the concept of "permanent facial scar" in the medical community by discussed according to objective criteria Key Words: face injury, permanent fasial scar, permanent fasial change, forensic medicine.
