Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to determine sleep and life quality of adolescent hematology-oncology patients. In the descriptive study, 33 adolescent hematology-oncology patients and their parents were determined as the sample group. As data collection tools in the study, "Parent and Adolescent Information Form", "Sleep Assessment Scale for Children with Cancer-Adolescent Form", "Sleep Assessment Scale for Children with Cancer-Parent Form" and "Quality of Life Assessment Scale for Child Cancer Patients aged 7-18 years". -Adolescent Form", "Quality of Life Assessment Scale for Child Cancer Patients aged 7-18-Parent Form" were used. Shapiro-Wilk test was used to measure the normality of the data. Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis tests were used for non-normally distributed variables. If significance was determined, Bonferroni test, which is one of the multiple comparison tests, was used. The differences between the scale scores of the children and their parents were evaluated with the Wilcoxon sign-rank test. The relationships between the variables were examined with the Spearman rank correlation coefficient. SPSS 23.0 program was used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the analysis; According to socio-demographic characteristics, the child sleep assessment general scale (p=0.044) and falling asleep and sleep fragmentation (p=0.048) sub-scales differed significantly according to gender, and it was determined that girls experienced falling asleep and sleep fragmentation problems more than boys. Gender made a significant difference in the child quality of life scale, and the quality of life of girls was found to be lower than that of boys (p=0.004). The disease stage variable made a significant difference only in terms of falling asleep and the division of sleep (p=0.048). There was a difference in terms of treatment durations in terms of sleep assessment scale (p=0.024) and sleep problems subscale (p=0.024). The scale scores of the adolescents who received treatment for more than 10 months were found to be low. It was found that adolescents who received only chemotherapy treatment in the treatment application had low scores in terms of falling asleep and sleep fragmentation (p=0.039). A moderately significant positive correlation was found between the quality of life of adolescents and sleep (p<0.001).
