The Sufi experience in the classical period as an alternative model in the context of current spiritual problems

Although the rapid progress of technology and the increase in urbanization with industrialization led to a relative improvement in material terms, it also led to the emergence of many spiritual problems. What is meant by spiritual problems is both mental and psychological problems in the known sense and moral weaknesses. The searches for the solution of religious and spiritual problems in a scientific sense have led scientists to approach the issue with an interdisciplinary perspective, not with a single science. In this context, it is accepted that joint studies in different scientific fields such as psychology, theology and psychiatry in today's scientific world will be more effective in solving current spiritual problems. In terms of contributing to the interdisciplinary study in question, it is thought that Sufi thought and experience in general and before Gazzâlî (d. 505/1111), which we can call the classical period, in particular will contribute to the solution of the spiritual problems of the modern world and will provide a deep perspective on this issue. In this context, the presentation of the experience-oriented intellectual knowledge of the Sufis, who claim to offer a recipe for happiness based on the Qur'an and the Sunnah, against spiritual problems, is important in terms of its manifestations in life, as well as contributing to scientific knowledge.
