Examination of opinions of German language teachers about in service training

ABSTRACTEXAMINATION OF OPINIONS OF GERMAN LANGUAGE TEACHERS ABOUT IN SERVICE TRAININGThis study is performed for examining the opinions of German Language teachers about in service training activities. Scanning method was used in this study. Teachers which are working in primary and elementary schools in İstanbul City Anatolian and European part in 2011-2012 academic year had formed the universe of this study. 123 German language teacher which are selected by cluster sampling had been reached for research sampling.In consequence of the study; opinions of teachers regarded with in service training are statistically meaningless with respect to gender, age, marital status, occupational seniority, branch, educational status, income variable, number of schools that they have worked, number of in service training activities. Half %50 of teachers which had participated in this survey had mentioned that their opinions regarded with their necessities are not considered during the plan of in service training programs. Majority of opinions of teachers regarded with assessment and evaluation techniques for in service training are generally negative. With respect to participation to in service training activities; teachers who work in private schools and who work as contract teacher mentioned positive ideas when compared with other teachers. As educational status and total monthly family income increases, it can be seen that there is more positive improvements in attitudes. About the adequacy of lecturers who have work in in service training activities; it is more positively evaluated that lecturers can make sufficient practice regarded with learning. About evaluation of in service training; majority of teachers mentioned that there should be a serious examination for measuring the success at the end of in service training programs and mentioned that their opinions about the process of in service training programs and physical conditions of in service training almost never considered.
