Abstract (EN)

The tale which is among the types of folk literature based on verbal expression, is one of the richest and most valuable products of Turkish folk culture. Tale comes in the first place of the resources to be used in order to reveal the traces, experiences and culture of the past. In tales, secrets, anger, dreams, hopes and love wait for their listeners to discover themselves. Many researches have been conducted on tales which are very important in terms of Turkish culture and literature. Generally, studies done with the compilation method formed the basis for alternative studies on tales. It has been seen that many studies have been done on women in fairy tales. This situation created an element of curiosity about the characteristics and roles of men in fairy tales. For this reason, in this study, the male types in the tales were tried to be examined in order to serve the Turkish culture. The tales examined were selected from among the tales obtained through compilation. In these tales, it has been tried to determine the positive and negative characteristics of men, the types represented by men, how the ideal man takes place in terms of physical and intelligence, the adventure of the man starting with his birth and based on the way of marriage, and the situations that women and men face.
