Abstract (EN)
The main purpose of this study is to examine the predictive effects of maternal resilience and emotion socialization strategies on the emotion regulation skills of 48-72 months old children. The sample of the study consists of mothers with 48-72 months old children. 915 people participated in the research, and the research data of 659 participants were included in the analysis process in line with the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the research. Data collection tools used in the research; Sociodemographic Information Form, Emotion Regulation Checklist (ERC), Coping with Children's Negative Emotions Scale (CCNES) and Resilience Scale for Adults. The predictive effect of independent variables on the dependent variable was performed with simple and multiple regression analyzes. As a result of the analyzes made, the emotional regulation skills of the parent's psychological resilience (β=0,279; p<0.01) and supportive emotion socialization strategies (β=0,220; p<0.01) were found to be positive; on the other hand, non-supportive emotion socialization strategies (β=-0,260; p<0.01) were found to negatively predict emotion regulation skills in children. Accordingly, as the parent's level of resilience and supportive reactions to the child's negative emotions increase, the child's emotion regulation skills increase; As the child's unsupportive reactions to negative emotions increase, the child's emotion regulation skills decrease. Since the results of the research reveal the effect of the parents on the emotional development of the child, it is thought that the findings will contribute to the program and psychoeducation by being carried out simultaneously with the parents in the programs to be prepared for the development of emotion regulation skills and in the clinical environment. Key words: Resilience, emotion socialization, emotion regulation, early childhood
