Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this thesis is to examine the ASALA terrorist organization in all its dimensions. As ASALA terrorist organization cannot be considered apart from the Armenian issue, the differences and features of ASALA in general Armenian terrorism have been investigated. A comprehensive literature review was made for the preparation of the study, and inferences and comments were adopted as the basic methodology. In this context, in order to create conceptual framaework, the concepts of terror and terrorism were emphasized in the first section of the thesis, and the Armenian issue is explained in general by covering the 1915 incidents of the Treaty of San Stefano. In this part of the study, in order to fully understand the ASALA terrorist organization, which will be explained by details in the second section, the Armenian resistance movements and general Armenian terrorism are also elaborated. In the second section of the thesis, it is aimed to reveal the differences of ASALA from other Armenian terrorist movements and to research its features. At this point, the establishment of ASALA terrorist organization, its structure, its differences from other Armenian terrorist organization, acts it carried out, its relations with the PKK terrorist organization and nation-states were addressed. In this section of the study, the Turkish martyrs who were sacrificed to Armenian terrorism were emphasized, and a detailed study was conducted on the first and the last Armenian terrorist incidents in the last quarter of the 20th Century, and especially the acts that resulted in death and the reactions against these acts were discussed. The study ended with an evaluation section that is specific to ASALA but includes a general anaysis of terrorism. Keywords: Terror, Terrorism, Armenian Issue, ASALA, Martyr Diplomats
