Abstract (EN)

Osteoporosis, as generally accepted around the world, is a disease of the skeleton characterized in an increase in bone brittleness and break risk due to a loss of bone mass and structural worsening of bone tissue. The main purpose of this study is to: evaluate the level of nurses' knowledge concerning osteoporosis disease; assess nurses' healthy behaviors for enhancing bone health and reducing risk factors; and find a association between nurses' knowledge about osteoporosis and their sociodemographic characteristics. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in Wasit Governorate (Al-Karamah Teaching Hospital). Between the 15th of October 2022 and the 15th of January 2023. Quantitative research was used in the planning of the study. According to the conclusions of this study, knowledge of osteoporosis was moderate-to-low among nurses in Al-Karamah Hospital during data collection. Nurses who work with this group of people need to learn more about osteoporosis's symptoms and signs, risk factors, and ways to prevent it, especially how to get treatment through nursing care and education.
