Özet (EN)

Eclampsia is the development of convulsions in a pregnant or postpartum woman diagnosed with preeclampsia. The study aims to assess nurses' skills in the care of an eclamptic woman and find out the relationship between nurses' skills regarding the care of eclamptic women and demographic data such as age, resident, education level, place of work, and year of experience. A descriptive study was conducted in Babylon city among 200 nurses working in (Babel Maternity and Children Hospital and Imam Al-Sadiq Hospital in Babylon city/Iraq), and they were selected using G Power Analysis. Introductory Information Form and 'Evaluation of Nurses' Skills regarding Eclampsia Scale' were used to collect data. The mean score of immediate management of eclampsia was 47.81±5.51, monitoring women with eclampsia – Hourly score was 25.84±3.54, and the overall skills score was 73.65±8.12. A statistically significant relationship was found between nurses' skills and education levels (p<0.005). It was determined that nurses with higher education levels had higher scores. The study finding concluded that nurses have average practice in immediate management of eclampsia and monitor women with eclampsia hourly. In this context, nurses should be given educational lessons about high pressure during pregnancy, signs and symptoms, and how to deal with high pressure. Women should be educated about the complications of high blood pressure and epilepsy. Practices related to the care of women with eclampsia should be carried out for nurses.
