Abstract (EN)

The present study is a complementary type research and carried out to evaluate state of mental of care staff working at a care and rehabilitation center. The study was conducted at Ankara Saray Life Without Disabilities Care and Rehabilitation Center during January 2015 - April 2015. 445 nursing personnel working at the center made up the sampling of the study. Descriptive Data Form, Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI) were used in data collection. The data were collected by face to face interview method. SPSS 21 package program was used for statistical analyses and calculations, and MS-Excel 2013 programs were used for graphic drawing. Statistical methods, number, percentage, median, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis, and Bonferroni corrected Mann-Whitney U test was used for data evaluation. Statistical significance level was accepted as p<0.05. According to the study findings, A statistically significant difference was found between SSI medians and the effect of employment type on social life, problematic area, stress experienced during the past year, and previous mental problems. There was statistically significant difference determined between educational status and income perception and only paranoid thought sub dimension, and the behavior developed against the experienced occupational problems and obsessive compulsive disorder, depression and paranoid thought sub dimensions. There were no statistically significant difference found between SSI score medians of care staff's individual characteristics such as gender, age, marital status, number of children, employment period, employment type, presence of social opportunities, and activity state. Suggestions were presented to determine mental problems of the nursing personnel based on the experienced problems and to meet necessities of the individuals based on the study results.
