Anxiety risc level in patients with suffering from headache and dizziness

Headache and dizziness are often seen in our population. These symptoms may be related either to organic or psychiatric disorders. Preventive studies lowers the risc of anxiety manifestation. The aim of this research is to observe if there is any corelation between headache dizziness and anxiety, and to define the risc level of anxiety that leads to these symptoms. 92 outbound patients followed by Neurology Department in Bağcılar Medilife Hospital were involved in this study. The level of headache was measured using Wong - Baker pain scale. Anxiety and depressive sings expression intensity was measured using Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. In more than half of the participitants (53%) the anxiety sings expression score was equal or more than 10, which is also threshold score value of the scale.several risc factors were detected. Correlation between headache intensity and anxiety sings expression intensity was of medium importance of statistical significance. Anxiety level was higher in patients who manifested light, middle and high intensity of headache. Anxiety sings manifest increased with incresing intensity of headache. People aged from 36 to 45 who experience headache are proned to develop anxiety. Diagnosis of dizziness related to neorological or psychogenic disorders and longevity of medical treatment for headache and dizziness are accepted as risc factors for anxiety. In spite of not being statistically significant diagnosis of tension type headache and female gender is predictive for anxiety. In this study we found that factors like gender, age, education, working or martial status are not a risc for anxiety related to headache and dizziness. This finding may be related to male/female ratio ( male 25, female 72), primary pschycologic disorder or sociocultural aspect of the sample group used in our study. Weather the cause of headache and dizzinines is organic or not, studies have proven their correlation to anxiety, and that is an significant reason why these patient should be supported by psychological treatment.
