Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to examine the effect of the clothes used by 7th grade secondary school students attending physical education and sports classes on their physical fitness parameters. While the population of the research consists of 7th grade students from Tuzla Osmangazi secondary school in Tuzla district of Istanbul province, the sample group consists of 34 students from 7/b class of Tuzla Osmangazi secondary school. The study is a survey, comparison study. The research was conducted at Tuzla Osmangazi Secondary School between 30 March 2023 and 30 April 2023. In the study, some tests in the Eurofit test battery were applied. Anthropometric measurements of height and body weight, motor parameters; sit reach (flexibility), standing long jump (explosive power), 30s shuttle (muscular endurance), 20 m run (speed) were measured. When the Mann Whitney U test results related to the clothing variable of the female students were examined, it was seen that there was no statistically significant difference in the flexibility (U=95,000, p>,05), standing long jump (U=115,500, p>,05) and shuttle (U=106,000 , p>,05) parameters, while there was a significant difference in favour of those wearing shorts+shirts in the running parameter. When the Mann Whitney U test results related to the clothing variable of male students in the practice were examined, it was seen that there was no statistically significant difference in the flexibility (U=113,500, p>,05), standing long jump (U=126,500, p>,05) and sit-up (U=107,000, p>,05) parameters, while there was a significant difference in favour of those wearing shorts + shirt in the running parameter (U=66,500, p<,05). When the Mann Whitney U test results related to the clothing variable of female and male students in the practice were examined, it was seen that there was no statistically significant difference in the flexibility (U=102,000, p>.05) parameter, while there was a significant difference in favour of men wearing uniforms in the standing long jump (U=39,500, p<.001), sit-up (U=71,500, p<.05) and running parameters (U=66,500, p<.05). When the Mann Whitney U test results related to the clothing variable of female and male students in the practice were examined, it was seen that there was no statistically significant difference in the flexibility (U=102,000, p>.05) parameter, while a significant difference was found in favour of men wearing shorts+shirts in the standing long jump (U=34,500, p<.001), sit-up (U=68,000, p<.05) and running parameters (U=69,500, p<.05). Considering the results obtained from our study, it was observed that the clothing worn caused a significant difference in physical fitness parameters, and physical fitness parameters were significantly better in students wearing shorts+shirts compared to students wearing school uniforms
