The analysis of the relationship between occupational self efficacy and innovativeness attitudes of physical education and sport teachers

The purpose of the study was to analyse the relationship between occupational self efficacy and innovativeness attitudes of physical education and sport teachers and of the teachers from various fields. Totally 241 teachers (176 male; 65 female) from Büyükçekmece district who worked between 2018-2019 years, voluntarily participated to the research. The data was collected via innovativeness attitude scale and occupational self-efficacy scale. In the statistical analysis, the difference between physical education and sport teachers and teachers from various fields according to their occupational self-efficacy levels and innovativeness attitudes was analysed. Also, comparisons according to the demographic variables (gender, education level, foreign language level, occupational seniority and official duty) was made and the relationship between occupational self- efficacy and innovativeness was tested. The findings revealed no significant difference in the occupational self-efficacy level and innovativeness attitudes of subjects according to their gender, official duty and foreign language knowledge level. Male and female teachers showed similar occupational self-efficacy levels and innovativeness attitudes. Occupational self- efficacy did not differentiated but innovativeness showed significant difference according to educational level of subjects. Also subjects did not showed difference in their innovativeness attitudes according to their study field but physical education and sports teachers occupational self-efficacy levels were significantly higher than the teachers from the other fields. According to the correlation tests significant relationship was identified between occupational self efficacy level and "Pioneer approach" and "open-mindedness" sub- factors of innovativeness attitudes.
