Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this research is to examine the effect of perfectionism and cognitive flexibility levels of emerging adults on decision making strategies. The participants of the study consisted of 133 male and 250 female adults aged 18-30 years. Research data were collected through the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale, the Cognitive Flexibility Inventory, and the Melbourne Decision-Making Strategies I-II and the Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher. Independent t-test was used to determine whether the emerging adults showed a significant difference according to the variables of gender, education level and place of residence, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used when comparing more than two independent groups, In addition, Pearson Correlation Analysis to determined correlations between research variables; Multiple Regression Analysis was performed to determine the predictive roles of the main variables. The post Hoc test was used to see the difference between the variables. According to the research findings, it has been determined that perfectionism differs significantly according to gender and experiences. There was no significant difference between the participants according to the education level of perfectionism. It has been determined that cognitive flexibility differs significantly according to gender. There was no significant difference in cognitive flexibility among the participants according to the place of residence and education level. It has been determined that decision-making strategies differ significantly according to gender and place of residence. No significant difference was found in the decision-making strategy according to the education level. It was seen that there is a positive and significant relationship between the scores of the Multidimensional Perfectionist Attitude Scale sub-dimensions and the sub-dimension scores of the sub-dimensions of the Melbourne Decision-Making Strategies Scale I-II. It is seen that the perfectionism levels and cognitive flexibility levels of emerging adults had a significant positive effect on their careful decision-making style. It was seen that the perfectionism levels and cognitive flexibility levels of emerging adults have a significant negative effect on the Avoidant decision-making style. It was seen that the perfectionism levels and cognitive flexibility levels of emerging adults had a significant effect on the procrastinating decision-making style. It was seen that the perfectionism levels and cognitive flexibility levels of emerging adults have a significant effect on the panic decision-making style.
