Abstract (EN)
This is a descriptive study aimed at measuring the level of knowledge about blood transfusion and increasing hemovigilance awareness. The sample of the study consists of 173 nurses working at Dursun Odabaşı Medical Center in Van Yüzüncü Yıl University. A questionnaire consisting of 25 questions was used as data collection tool. Data were evaluated with SPSS version 11. Chi Square test was applied. It was observed that the nurses participating in our study had information about performing patient and product identity checks before taransfusion applications. Blood and blood products to be transfused information about the participating in the studymore than half of the nurses answered correctly. It is determined that they have knowledge about reactions and first interventions after transfusion. It was found that their knowledge about the fluids to be added to the blood bag during transfusion was insufficient. Hemovigilance, hemovigilance nurses and their duties were found to be incomplete. It is recommended to have at least two nurses for the identification and blood / blood label label checks to be performed before, during and after transfusion applications and to make the procedures more reliable and more careful. Blood taransfusion procedures are the applications that cause prolonged hospital stay as a result of serious reactions and inadequate or careless controls on the bedside and fatal consequences. It was determined that nurses who participated in our study participated in our study on safe transfusion of blood and blood products. The work intensity of the nurses in the ward will increase the error rate in transfusion applications. Trained transfusion nurses should be assigned only for transfusion applications and these nurses should only serve as transfusion nurses. The formation of a team of hemovigilance nurses in the hospital hemovigilance team with only nurses assigned for blood and blood products transfusion will improve the quality of transfusion studies and the safety of taransfusion.
