Risk factors and toxoplasma, cytomegalovirus, rubella, HIV, hepatitis B/C prevalence in pregnant women in the first trimester

In this study; it was aimed to evaluate the possible risk factors and to determine seropositivity rates in pregnant womeninthe first trimester who were admitted to Polyclinic of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Gulhane Millitary Medical Academy. The study sample was consisted of 235 pregnant women who met there searching clusion criteria and were admitted to polyclinic 1 September -10 December2015.As data collection tool; the questionnaire being developed was used by the researcher. Shapiro Wilk's, Mann-Whitney U test, Chi-square test, Fisher's exacttest and Pearson's Monte Carlosimulation with the help of Chi-squareanalysis was used in the analysis of the data. The average age of pregnant women was 28.2 ± 3.26 (18-42). Toxoplasma IgG in the study (27.4%) and IgM (0.9%), rubella IgG (92.8%), CMV IgG (71.5%), HBsAg (38.3%), Anti-HBs (0.9%), HCV (0.4%) seropositivity has been detected. None of the pregnant women with HIV seropositivity was detected.It was found thattoxoplasma IgG-IgM, IgG rubella, CMV IgG, HBs Ag, anti-HBs and HCV prevalence increased with the age (p <0.05).Toxo IgG seropositivity is in common in the East and South-Eastern Anatolia regions and increases in directly proportional to the number of pregnancies (p <0.05). Anti-HBs seropositivity among health care workers was higher (p <0.05).There was no statistically significant relationship with serology results of pregnant women between low and curettage number, marital numbers, marital numbers of the wives, previous surgery, minor surgical operation, dental treatment, tattoo/piercing and blood transfusions, IV/IM injection during pregnancy, keeping a pet and undercooked meat consumption(p <0.05).
