Studies on Bukhārī's chapter headings and evaluation of his own expressions in them

It is a known fact that the chapter headings of al-Jāmi' as-Sahīh which is arranged according to subjects are sources for the writer's own interpretations. This has lead to studies on the chapter headings and a separate literature within the hadīth literature to arise. When considered these chapter headings, it comes out that not all of them have the same features and content but certain varieties have been taken in consideration while being composed. The writer makes an effort to express his own opinions in the chapter headings he preferred either in a direct or indirect manner. The main subject of this study is the chapter headings of al-Jāmi' as-Sahīh. In this regard, the study aims to introduce the studies carried on these headings and reveal the general features of them and the varieties taken into regard during their formation while the primary objective is to ascertain at what rate are the writer's own expressions in the headings and present what his individual opinions on the subjects are.
