Özet (EN)
The jet in cross flow (JICF) is a basic flow field which is relevant to a wide variety of applications. The jet in cross flow studies was done which is related to plume dispersal from smoke stacks and more recently volcano?s. Smoke distribution at both the ground level and downwind are important. This is a pollution problem where smoke concentration is of primary interest.A second application has been effluent dispersal. This study tends to be reducing environmental pollution. The emphasis of this research is diffusion of the jet. The aim is identification of the polluted region and the pollutant concentrations. In jet engine combustors, turbines and other applications, a hot stream o gas can be cooled by injection jets of cool gas. Injection of fuel is another interest. Since uniform mixing is desired for both applications, it is necessary to study jet penetration and blending of the two streams.Reaction control jets have been used on rockets and missiles where the jet pressure ratio tends to be very large. There is usually an under expanded plume which increases the jet induced effect when compared with a sonic, fully expanded jet. In all of these control applications, the jet induced aero-propulsion interactions and their effect on the net control moment are of primary interest. In this thesis, the hot jet structure which is seen on various industrial and engineering applications in the jet in cross flow has been investigated and velocity distribution compared both experimentally and numerically. In this thesis, experiments have been conducted in Aerodynamic Laboratory of Air Force Academy. In experiments, wind tunnel, LDA, K-type thermocouple, digital thermometer, fan, frequency converter and heater have been used.20 mm round jet has been used in experiments. When the experiments have been conducted the main stream and jet velocity has been taken constant, but jet temperature has been changed. Some investigations have been done computationally due to the improvements of computer technologies and computational fluid dynamics software?s. The experiments have been modeled numerically in this thesis.
