Abstract (EN)

The Statement of The Problem: The aim of this study is to evaluate couples with different sexual orientation, sexual satisfaction, psychopathology, attachment styles, sociodemographic characteristics together with related variables.Method: A total of 45 volunteer couples (90 people) participated in the survey with the snowball method. Informed Consent Form, Sociodemographic Data and Information Form, Relationship Scale Questionnaire, The New Sexual Satisfaction Scale Short Form (NSSS-S) and Symptom Check Scale (SCL-90-R) were filled out by the study group in the data collecting process. Results: It is seen that there was a correlation in a statistically significant and positive manner between the quality of the relationship between the sexual satisfaction sub-dimensions and the secure attachment style (r = 0,276; p = 0,009), while there were no statistically significant relationships with other attachment styles (p > 0,05). It can also be seen that the psychological pleasure dimension was negatively correlated with obsessive attachment style and statistically significant (r = -0,279; p = 0,008) and total sexual satisfaction score was statistically significant in a positively manner with secure attachment style (r = 0,262; p = 0,013). All dimensions of sexual satisfaction level were statistically significant with psychopathology. As a result of the correlation analysis made on the basis of sexual orientation, the relationship between anger and quality of the relationship, and somatization and compatibility with partner was not statistically significant (p > 0,05), and all other dimensions were statistically significant (p < 0,05). There were statistically significant relationships between psychopathology dimensions and personality levels in people who were overtly obsessive and indifferent (p < 0,05). A statistically significant relationship between psychoticism and secure attachment style (r = -0,222, p < 0,05) was found when controlled correlation analysis was performed according to sexual orientation groups. There was a statistically significant correlation in the negative manner between the total score of sexual satisfaction and SCL dimensions and all dimensions except paranoid thought in female homosexual participants (p < 0,05). The relationship between OCD dimension and total sexual satisfaction score in homosexual males was statistically significant (p < 0,01) and the relations between other SCL dimensions were not statistically significant (p > 0,05). In heterosexuals, interpersonal susceptibility and depression levels were statistically significant in a negative manner with total sexual satisfaction score (p < 0,05). Conclusion: Since the findings in the literature are generally oriented to the heterosexual group, the comparison was made in this aspect and the results are in accordance with the literature. It is important that homosexual individuals are assessed in terms of their methods for coping with problems, sexual satisfaction, psychopathologies and attachment styles as well as the problems they experience. It is also important to expose the problems of people with non-heterosexual orientation, and have solutions for their problems developed. Keywords: Sexual orientation, Attachment styles, Sexual satisfaction, Psychopathology, Homosexual.
