Abstract (EN)

Problem Solving and Empathic Skills of Care Staff in Children's Homes Site and Children's Homes In this research, the aim is to view relation between children protection site dependent on Ankara provincial directorate of family and social policies and problem solving and empathetic abilities of care staff that work at children protection institutions. Care staff are most efficient at children's physical, emotional, social, cognitive and moral development. Examples of this research compose of 322 women and 16 men care staff working at children protection institutions site and children houses and who were chosen with a basic and incidental method and who were volunteer to take part in the research. The research data has been obtained by implementing "Interview Form", "Problem Solving Inventory" and "Empathetic Tendency Scale" prepared by researcher to the participants at children protection site dependent on Ankara provincial directorate of family and social policies and children houses. Analyze of the data has been made with SPSS 23.0 package program. As results relevant to socio-demographic information, problem solving abilities and empathic tendency of care staff has been obtained. According to regression analyses, it has been concluded that the lower dimension of Empathic Tendency and Egocentric Tendency predict problem solving expressively. It has been determined that there is a significant relation between problem solving ability and education background, type of institution that they work at, age group that they work with, number of children that they are responsible for. The subjects that care staff like to have in service training are; the care staff participated in the research mostly state that they need to have in service training on fields as "Child Psychology", "Adolescent Psychology", "Care Methods", "Developmental Periods" and "Special Training". The research is important in terms of viewing problem solving and empathic tendency of care staff at children protection institutions site and children houses. While hiring care staff, it is recommended to hire people who has problem solving abilities and empathic tendency.
