Özet (EN)

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurological and developmental disorder characterized by social interaction and communication problems. The primary purpose of this research is to examine the quality of life levels of parents of children with Autism and compare them with the quality of life of parents of children with typical development. A comparative study was carried out in Paediatric Teaching Hospital (Autism center) and schools in Baghdad, Iraq, from 8 February 2022 to 1 June 2022. According to the research findings, except for general health perception (p<0.05), the quality of life of parents of children with ASD was found to be lower in all domains of the whole-brief scale than those of parents of children with typical development (p<0.05). When the quality of life of mothers and fathers of children with ASD was compared, no statistically significant difference was found between them (p>0.05). Similarly, there was no statistically significant difference between the quality of life of mothers and fathers with typical development children (p>0.05). This study shows a difference between parents of children with ASD and typically developing children's quality of life of parents of children with ASD is lower. These results also show how important it is to help families so that they can live better lives. Keywords: Autism spectrum disorder, Children, Parents, Quality of life.
