Democratic Party press regime and comparison of Hürriyet newspaper and Aksam newspaper (1957-1960)

In Turkey, 1946 is the year of Turkey's transition to multi-party political life and the year of establishment of the Democratic Party. This study begins by explaining highlighted events and establishment process of Demokrat Parti in 1946 and it will then go on to regulations regarding the printing and publishing during the Demokrat Parti period. The original aspect of the study is determined by examining the publications of the newspapers, where the Hürriyet and Akşam newspapers stand between the ruling and opposition axis. This study, therefore, set out to explain the events that took place between 1957 and 1960 that is the last period of Demokrat Parti's ruling life, their effects between the government and the opposition and Demokrat Parti's position in regard to the press through examples from Hürriyet and Akşam newspapers. Although many studies have examined Demokrat Parti period, the number of studies that deal with the relationship between the press and the government with concrete examples is insufficient. Therefore, this study aims to fill this gap.
