Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to examine the effects of an educational study applied to Turkish and Syrian elementary students with different social and cultural identities who are studying together in the same class. The study was carried out using a quasi-experimental design. There are two experimental groups and two control groups in the study. Six stories focused on cross-group friendships were developed for use in the study. The stories developed were applied in two different classes belonging to the experimental group for a total of 6 hours, one hour for six weeks. There are a total of sixty-two students in the two classes. Qualitative data were collected by conducting focus group discussions in both classes where stories were processed and in two classes taken as control groups. In addition, qualitative data were collected from the worksheets that students filled out while the story study was being conducted. In the study, qualitative data obtained through focus group interviews and qualitative data obtained from the documents collected from students belonging to the experimental group were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. As a result of the study, significant differences were found between the experimental and control groups. Keywords: Intergroup Contact, Crossgroup Friendship, Indirect Contact.
