Evaluation of quality work life of nurses working in hospital of Dicle Univercity and influencing factors

Abstract (EN)
Nurses are workers who spend the longest time with the patients, and if their working quality is high, they look after their patiences better, so this situation effects patients' motivation and emotional situation positively and they get well sooner. This study was conducted as a descriptive-cross sectional study and was performed with the aim of determining the factors affecting the working quality which evolves depending on the working conditions of the nurses working in univercity hospital. The population of the study consists of 720 nurses working in hospital of D.Ü. Medicine Faculty and 334 nurses (46.4%) were included in the study. Data of our study is gathered by 29 questions survey form determining demographic and vocational qualities between 1 September 2015-30 October 2015, and by "Nursing Working Life quality Scale" which is developed by Brooks (2001), and Turkish arrangement is done and validity and caonfidence is tested by Şirin (2011). In evaluation of the data, number, percent counting, standarvid deviation mean, Anova, Student t test, Kruskal-Wallis Variance Analysis and Mann-Whitney U test is used. In these analyses p<0,05 is accepted statistically meaningful. Of the nurses participating in the study, 81.8% of (273) were at the age of 35 and below, 65.6% (219) were female, 54.2% (181) were married, 44% with children (147), 58% (197) had a bachelor's degrees or higher, 75,5% (259) had 0 to 11 years of nursing experience , 71.9% day / night work shifts (240), 56% were not working according to their special education/certification/field of expertise, 47% had not chosen the unit that worked willingly choose through their own decisions, 88,9% stated that their salary is not adequate, 41,6% were smokers and 14,4% used alcohol 44% were not satisfied with the working conditions, 52,4% feel that they generally have a poor quality of work life. The total mean score of "Quality of Nursing Work Life Scale" (QNWLS) for nurses in the study is found to be 88,76±21,23. A statistically significant difference between participants' place of employment, chosing the unit that worked willingly choose through their own decisions , stating that their salary is adequate, diseases related to occupation, working conditions, educational status the certification/training programs they participated, working according to their special education/certification/field of expertise, the level of quality of work life that they feel and the QNWLS total score were specified (p<0.05). A statistically significant difference between nurses' age groups, gender, marital status, number of their children, working status, length of employment, type of work, number of shifts, and the QNWLS tot al score were determined (p>0.05).
