Abstract (EN)

Begging has been one of the biggest problems in human history. This problem, which has occupied the agenda of almost all states and governments for centuries, continues in different ways today. In order to struggle with begging effectively, which is a social problem, first of all, the dynamics that make up begging and ensure their continuity should be analyzed well. Without analysis of these dynamics comprehensively and accurate diagnoses, all social policies that will be implemented will remain incomplete. In the field study, the concept of religiousness, which is one of the biggest causes of the continuity of the sociological problem, was discussed. From this point of view, the phenomenon of piety and begging were examined separately. Then the relation of begging with piety which is the hinterland of begging was emphasized. The main purpose of the current study is to reveal the link between the chronic begging problem and the religiousness that feeds it, thus contributing to the solution by approaching it from a different perspective. The population of the research is Tatvan district of Bitlis. Sample; The study included 10 women and 10 men who were randomly selected from different professional groups and identified themselves as religious. A semi-structured interview technique was used with these participants. In the study, one of the most important factors in the continuation of begging problem was found to be religion. In addition, the study found that the majority of the participants were disturbed by the begging behavior, but continued to give money to the beggar with both religious and conscientious concerns.
