Abstract (EN)

Jurisprudence attempting to reduce the impact on social life rule of law in the Republic of Turkey has been the main adventure of modernization. Sharia law contains rules that imprison women in the house, order the veil, and declare that the real duty of the woman is domestic space. Therefore, since modernization is defined as the removal of religion from the rules of social life, it is inevitable that there will be dramatic changes in the social life of women in this process. With the republic, the visibility of women in social areas and the participation rate in business life increased. The first steps of women in most occupations were taken in the Republican period. In 1932 Adile Ayda joined the Foreign Service as the first Turkish female diplomat. However, due to being a woman, she resigned from the Foreign Ministry and started teaching. In 1957, she returned to the foreign ministry. This study aims to present the first biography of Adile Ayda. Based on the biography of Adile Ayda, we aim to compare the identity of Adile Ayda with the identity of the Turkish modernization. Ayda's biography was compiled from her articles in Hisar, Çınaraltı, Belleten magazines and Cumhuriyet newspaper, the archive of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, the personnel file in the Faculty of Language, History and Geography of Ankara University, her daughters Gülnur Üçok and Gönül Pultar and the books she wrote. Adile Ayda's rhetoric and personality structure, which emerged as a result of her writings, has in fact proved to be embodied by Adile Ayda, the female figure that Turkish Modernization tries to create.
