Mental health outcomes and affecting factors among health care workers during the outbreak in di̇yarbakir yeni̇şehi̇r province

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of the COVID-19 epidemic on mental health and to reveal the risk factors in healthcare professionals who carry out primary health care services. The population of the study consists of 129 health personnel working in 17 family health centers in Yenişehir district. The prevalence of generalized anxiety disorder was 34.2%, the prevalence of depression was 33.3%, the prevalence of post traumatic stress disorder was 52.1%. Those with a history of psychiatric illness had higher anxiety scores. The post traumatic stress disorder scores of women were significantly higher than men, and those who were single were significantly higher than those who were married. The anxiety, depression and post traumatic stress disorder scale scores of those who thought that the epidemic had a negative impact on their mental health, who were afraid of infection, who thought of quitting their job during the epidemic, who had difficulty in caring for their children and family during the epidemic, and who lived in the same house with individuals in the risk group were higher. Considering the correlation of the total scores from all three scales with each other, a moderate or strong positive correlation was found.
