Abstract (EN)

This research's aim is experimentally for the purpose of investigation of the effect of the kangaroo care with the COMFORTneo Behavior Scale applied in early kangaroo care to the newborn who born with health in invasive interventions in Adana Maternity and Child Health Hospital maternity units. The study was forming the population which was related to 80 mothers and babies born healtly and vaginal delivery in Adana Maternity and Child Health Hospital maternity units from 1 July 2016- 31 October 2016. These babies was chose to experimental group (n=40) and control group (n=40) with simple random sampling method. Datas were collected with "Baby Information Form", "Family Information Form", timepiece and in invasive operations "COMFORTneo Behavior Scale" in order to evaluate the behavioural responses of babies. Statistically, significiant difference wasn't confirmed in terms of COMFORTneo Behavior Scale and duration of crying by taking into consideration the variables of gender, gestation age, birth length, birth weight, birth head circumference of babies in the experimental and control groups (p>0.05). According to variables of experimental and control groups, alertness (Z=-3.582; p=0.000), calmness/agitation (Z=4.713; p=0.000), crying (Z=-4.942; p=0.000), body movement (Z=-5.465; p=0.000), facial tension (Z=-5.226; p=0.000), (body) muscletone (Z=-5.085; p=0.000) significant differences were confirmed statistically in terms of points obtained from sub dimension. The level of comfort of the group receiving kangaroo care was found to be higher than those who did not. Significant connection was confirmed positive, statistically and highly between total score and duration of crying (r=0.925; p=0.000). It was confirmed that when the total score increases, crying time gets more and more and the comfort decreases. Early kangaroo care practised in invasive attempt was determined as effective method to extend the comfort of babies.
