The view of the Kayseri press of the period on the Democratic Party power

Communication began with the history of humanity, and naturally, as civilization developed, communication methods also changed and developed. The factor that leads humanity to search for communication is the human need for information. Therefore, information, that is, news, is valuable for people. So much so that the existence of the newspaper, which is accepted to have started with the invention of the printing press, dates back to before BC. The history of the Turkish press, which emerged late compared to the history of the European press, began to form in the last years of the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman State, which saw the power of the newspaper, that is, the press, published a newspaper with the aim of announcing its official announcements, and then the Turkish press showed a rapid development. The Turkish press has undertaken an active propaganda role in winning the National Struggle. The Turkish press continued to develop during the period of Republican Turkey. In fact, the history of the Turkish press is, in a sense, the history of Turkish democracy. Indeed, the press has developed in parallel with the democratic development of our country and has become one of the most important actors in our social and political life. With the defeat of the one-party regimes in the Second World War, the administration of democracy has taken the whole world under its influence. In the post-war blockade that emerged after the war, Turkey joined the ranks of the pro-democracy US-led western bloc against the USSR-led socialist eastern bloc that claimed territory from it, and then moved to multi-party political life. In 1946, the Democratic Party was founded and came to power in the elections of 14 May 1950. Since then, the Democratic Party has been victorious in every election it has participated in under the leadership of Adnan Menderes and has remained in power for ten years without interruption despite all the opposition, especially the Republican People's Party. The Democratic Party's rule ended with a coup d'état on May 27, 1960, by some officers in the army, who saw the division of society into camps and the endangerment of democracy as an excuse. This thesis sheds light on the view of the Kayseri press, whose existence dates back to 1910, the activities of the Yeni Kayseri, Erciyes Telegraph and Anadolu newspapers published between 1950 and 1960 on the activities of the Democratic Party government.
