A comparison of Edip Cansever's poem "Şahinin Kopardığı Elmas" and Scott Fitzgerald's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" in terms of time and perception

This interdisciplinary study aims to investigate the concept of time and its perception in the context of Comparative Literature Science. Philosophical thought originated the inquiry into the concept of time, coinciding with the universe's creation. Various viewpoints that either support or contradict the concepts and perceptions of time in this context have been presented by several disciplines, primarily philosophy and physics. The study is divided into three sections, which are elaborated in five chapters. In the first section, the main analysis views time as a universal concept. Moreover, this investigation examines the historical evolution of time in philosophy and explores various notions and understandings of time in the field of physics. This covers concepts related to energy, electricity, light, colour, and quantum mechanics. Additionally, this study seeks to clarify the concepts of art and literature and examine the interrelationship among language, literature, perception, and the concept of time. The second section will analyse the presentation of time and time perception in Edip Cansever's poem, entitled "Şahinin Kopardığı Elmas", and in Scott Fitzgerald's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", including the film adaptation. The analysis will be contextualized within Comparative Literary Science. The third section will evaluate the conclusions and results of the examination. The conclusion will explore the relationship between Comparative Literary Science, a branch of Social Science, and Positive Sciences concerning the concepts of time and perception. The study focuses on how researchers from different scientific branches in diverse fields can understand the shared concepts of humanity.
