Abstract (EN)
The purpose of earthquake engineering is to design and construct safe structures with seismic requirements. For this purpose, different methods have been developed and it has been accepted by the scientific community that the most reliable calculation methods are nonlinear calculation methods. The reliability of the current calculation methods is still under investigation. This study aims not only to contribute academically to the comparison of earthquake regulations but will also be a resource for projects to be implemented practically. The new regulation, which aims to ensure better design of buildings in line with the loads affecting structures on weak soils, has reached its goal in this context, and it has been emphasized that more care should be taken when designing buildings in areas with weak soils. In this thesis, two residential building will be studied according to the laws and instructions of TSDC-2018 were followed in terms of design and analysis of reinforced concrete buildings. In calculations were made based on the Türkiye Building Earthquake Regulation. In addition to the earthquake regulations, TS-500 standards were also used. The floor displacements calculated according to DBYBHY-2007 are greater than that of TSDC-2018. Due to the use of effective section stiffness in TSDC-2018, larger floor displacement values are expected. On the other hand, the fact that earthquake forces had much greater consequences reversed in this situation. Like the earthquake forces, the floor displacement values in the weak direction were found to be larger than those computed in the strong direction as expected. The difference between the maximum spectral acceleration values for TSDC-2018is a change from hard soil to weak soil. Additionally, with the weakening of the soil, the widening of the flatness between the spans of the spectrum will expose the building to earthquake risk for a longer period of time. For this reason, the correct determination of soil survey criteria and local soil class in building designs, especially according to TSDC-2018, directly affects the earthquake forces that a building will receive.
