Abstract (EN)
The Ottoman State's modernization, which gained momentum with the 1839 Tanzimat Edict, also affected Turkish women and the period called the Ottoman women's movement began in the Second Constitutional Era. In addition to this period the articles and letters they published in magazines, women conveyed their requests and complaints to the current government with the women's associations. Thus, Turkish women's right of education and family law shaped the policies of the Second Constitutional Era. In the Early Republican Period the position and rights of the Turkish woman were shaped by efforts to create a nation-state and become a part of the western civilization. Subsequently, Turkish women also worked for their rights during the Republican regime under the leadership of the Woman's Political Party/ The Turkish Woman's Association. In this research the positions and the struggles of Turkish women between 1908 and 1928 will be studied in the context of westernization and modernization principles.
