The biography of Emel Esin and Türkistan Seyahatnamesi

Emel Esin drew attention with her studies on Turkish culture and art history. However, this study, in which we identified that she is not as wellknown as her works, aimed to draw a biographical portrait of Emel Esin, who brought original works on the history of Central Asian Turkish culture and art. This study aimed to present the environment in which Emel Esin grew up, and her interest with Turkish culture and art. Besides, the Works and perspective of Emel Esin were tried to be presented to the basis of Turkistan Seyahatnamesi. Thesis study on "The Biography of Emel Esin and Turkistan Seyahatnamesi" was fed from various sources and met with the reader after long time. Mostly written sources which were written by herself and written by others were used. People who had the opportunity to meet Emel Esin in a way while alive were identified and interviews with them were included in the study. Hoping that the use of visual materials will be effective in gaining cancreteness of the thesis, besides the special photographs of Esin, the pictures he has drawn personally were also shared. Emel Esin is a researcher who is sensitive about Turkism and Islam. We can easily see this sensitivity in her works. Despite this, she has achieved scientific hypotheses rather than an emotional outcome. Having access to the opportunity to work in the field and able to examine the original copies of many sources, Esin has become the most special follower of Central Asian Turkish culture and art, leaving thousands of important documents and works behind.
