Özet (EN)

Muslims maintained their presence in the Iberian Peninsula from the 8th to the 15th century. The Amirid dynasty, which was active between (976–1008) and (1021–1094), had significant influence in various fields. With the appointment of Ibn Abu Amir al-Mansur as hajib, Amirid authority began to assert itself in the Andalusian Umayyad State. After the death of Caliph al-Hakam II, Ibn Abu Amir took advantage of the young age of Hisham II, who succeeded to the throne, to become the most powerful administrator in the state. He eliminated strong political rivals such as Jaʿfar b. Uthman al-Mushafi and Ghalib b. Abd al-Rahman, consolidating his power. During his tenure as hajib, Ibn Abu Amir eradicated internal political threats and strengthened his authority. He introduced institutional reforms in the Andalusian Umayyad State, relocating the administrative center from the existing Madinat al-Zahra palace to the newly constructed Madinat al-Zahira. He also restructured the military by altering the composition of Arab and Berber elements within it. After ensuring stability within the army, he demonstrated his dominance in foreign affairs by successfully leading campaigns against the Christian Spanish kingdoms. Following Ibn Abu Amir's death, his eldest son, Abd al-Malik b. al-Mansur, succeeded him as hajib and followed his father's policies. However, after the early death of Abd al-Malik, his brother Abd al-Rahman b. al-Mansur assumed the position. Unlike his predecessors, Abd al-Rahman's tenure as hajib was marked by political failures, and his mismanagement led to the collapse of The Andalusian Umayyad State. With the fall of the state, the Amirid family maintained its existence in a fragmented manner during the Muluk al-Tawaʾif (Party Kings) period, influencing various regions sporadically.
