The effects of energy consumption and environmental pollution on economic growth: An empirical application on Turkey

Environmental pollution, which is in question in the world, has begun to show its effect on a global scale. Global warming, one of the most important of these effects, has negatively affected the whole world. This leads to extinction of animals, pollution of the oceans, air pollution and extreme heat. Apart from this, international organizations carry out improvement studies at certain standards in order to recover the deranged ecosystem and to breathe again for the world. These improvements create a burdensome situation for both the private sector and countries. One of the best examples that can be given in this regard is some remedial standards applied to production companies in order to reduce carbon emissions. In addition, some conditions are put forward when standards are given to countries in production. All of these and similar situations have started to become facts that guide economic growth. Since the economy is one of the most basic building blocks of a state, the negative impact of the economy disrupts international trade and production standards. The problem of the research is, in general terms, integrating environmental problems into a healthy economic growth model without ignoring the world's energy consumption. Turkey is leaning towards the position of a country that whets the appetite of investors in the world under the influence of capitalism, where the labor force is cheap. This situation shows us the fact that the country will be more concerned with disrupting its natural resources and dealing with global environmental pollution. Turkey, which has become a larger investment region, has problems regarding what measures to take against environmental pollution and the problems it brings. While minimizing environmental pollution, economic growth can be achieved with certain subsidies without imposing heavy sanctions on investors. But this situation should not harm the investor, future generations, and most importantly Turkey, and should cover the green economic growth model.
