Investigation of adolescent delinquency in terms of family functioning, family risk factors and quality of life

In this research, delinquency of adolescents at 14-18 years old was aimed to investigate interms of family functioning, family risk factors (marital conflict, domestic violence, alcohol abuse in family?) and quality of life (high-low). Datas was collected with 695 high school student (9, 10, 11, 12 grades). Datas of adolescent delinquency levels were collected by means of ?Delinqueny Scale? (Kaner, 2001) and datas of family functioning was collected by means of ?Family Assesment Device? (Bulut, 1990). Datas of family risk factors ?Family Risk Factors Inqury?, personal and parental charactaristics was collected by means of ?Personal Inqury Form? prepared by researchers. Datas of quality of life means of ?Kiddo Kindl Quality of Life Questioner? (Ravens-Sieberer ve Bullinger, 1998). Mann Whitney U Test and Kruskal Wallis Test are non parametrik data analyses. Techniques were utilized for data analyses. Results indicated that there is a significant relationship between difference delinquence level and problem solving, communication, roles, emotional responce, gereken ilgiyi gösterme, davranış kontrolü ve general fonctions of family.In addition, there is a significant relationship between difference delinquence level and large size of family, parental educational level, sosyo-economic level, alcohol abuse in parents, marital conflict, domestic violence, neglect, parental autorterian style, mental disorders in the family and offender person in the family and quality of life. Even though, no significant relationship was found between delinquency levels and immigration, parental togetherness.Keywords: Adolescence, delinquency behavior, family funtion, risk factors, quality of life.
