Abstract (EN)
This study is conducted to examine the relationship between body awareness and upper extremity dexterity in adults. The sample of the research consisted of 100 healthy individuals living in the Birecik district of Şanlıurfa. The data are obtained from the sociodemographic information form prepared by the researcher. Body Awareness Questionnaire (BAQ) is used to evaluate body awareness, O'Connor Finger Dexterity test and Box Block Test (BBT) are used to evaluate upper extremity dexterity. The conformity of the data to the normal distribution is tested with the Shaphiro-Wilk Test. Student t (for normally distributed variables) and Mann Whitney U (for non-normally distributed variables) tests were used to compare numerical variables in 2 groups. One-way Anova (for normally distributed variables) and Kruskal Wallis-Dunn multiple comparison (for non-normally distributed variables) tests were used to compare numerical variables in more than 2 groups. SPSS for windows version 24 program is used for statistical analysis. As a result of the analysis, no significant difference is found between the BAQ total score and the dominant and non-dominant measurements of the O'Connor finger dexterity test (p>0.05). No significant difference is found between the BAQ total score and the dominant and non-dominant measures of BBT (p>0.05). A significant difference is found between the dominant and non-dominant measures of the O'Connor finger dexterity test (p<0.05). A significant difference is found between the dominant and non-dominant measurements of BBT (p<0.05). There was no significant difference between BAQ total score and age, gender and BMI (p>0.05). As a result; No significant difference is found between body awareness and upper extremity dexterity. This study shows that different parameters should be included in the study when investigating the body awareness and upper extremity dexteritys.
