Teaching religious language with translation method in Old Anatolian Turkish: An example of sublinear translation of the Qur'an (100b-150a)

The translation of the Qur'an into other languages began in the early years of Islam. Due to the collective acceptance of the religion of Islam by the Turks in the 10th century, the need to learn the rules of this new religion in their own language presents the translations of the Qur'an. The Qur'an has been translated into Turkish many times in different periods and in different fields. Translations made especially in Anatolian geography are frequently encountered. Although the translations seem similar to each other, they differ in terms of spelling, sound, shape and vocabulary. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out academic studies on every available Qur'an translation in order to create a source for the Turkish language. In our study, the text containing the 100b-150a leaves of the Quran Translation, which is registered in the Konya Koyunoğlu City Museum and Library Manuscripts Collection archive number 11681, belonging to the Old Anatolian Turkish period has been examined. On the pages that refer to the text, there is the beginning of the 16th verse of the chapter of Tawba, the chapter of Yunus, the chapter of Hud, the chapter of Yusuf, the chapter of Ra'd, the chapter of Ibrahim, the chapter of Hijr, the chapter of Nahl, the middle of the 27th verse of the chapter of Isra. While using the text transfer method in the study, the Arabic reading of the line was added first, then the Turkish translation of the Qur'an of the Presidency of Religious Affairs was written and transcribed into Latin letters. The main point of the study is to determine the Turkish ones among the religious concepts and terms used in the period but not used today. The determinations made in the review section are given in index. Identified words are important in terms of Turkish vocabulary.
