Abstract (EN)
In this study, the essential oil contents of five different plants (Rosmarinus officinalis, Schinus molle, Santolina chamaecyparissus, Myrtus communis, and Citrus aurantium) collected from Osmaniye province were determined by GC/MS and also the antioxidant activities and thermal properties of these essential oils were determined. The main components were determined as (+)-2-bornanone (%17.472) in R. officinalis essential oil, (+)-bicyclogermacrene (%11.662) in S. molle, artemisia alcohol (%31.789) in S. chamaecyparissus, eucalyptol (%50.048) in M. communis and D-limonene (%92.173) in C. aurantium. Among the oil samples examined, the highest phenolic content was found in rosemary (882.035 mg GAE/l), while the lowest amount was found in myrtle essential oil (93.346 mg GAE/l). It was determined that the antioxidant behavior results obtained with the ABTS method were higher than the results obtained with the DPPH method for all essential oil samples. However, when the thermal properties of the essential oils are examined, it is seen that each oil exhibits a unique thermal profile and these profiles may have an effect on properties such as thermal stability and oxidative resistance.
