Assesment of science teachers' views related to reflective thinking: Şırnak province case

This study aims to evaluate the Science Teachers? ideas about reflective thinking and to find out whether there is a meanningful correlation between Science Teachers?reflective thinking levels and their sex, seniority, education levels, socio-economic situation of the schools in which they are working. The study is composed of five basic chapters which are Introduction, Theoretical Framework, Method, Findings, Discussion and Comment.Having used the survey method, the study is applied to 27 female and 73 male teachers who work in state schools whcih are under Şırnak Provincial National Education Directorate.In the study, personal datas and 28 itemed scale form which is developed by Dolapçıoğlu (2007) are used as a data collection tools. In the study, frequency (f), percentile (%), independent group t-test, One-Way Variance Analysis (Anova) analysis are used and significancy is tested at the level of 0.05. The datas collected are analyzed and commented by using statistical techniques with the help of a computer programme SPSS for Windows ver:16,0.The results of the statistics show that the teachers involved in the sample answer all the questions in reflective thinking scale as `often or `always except for the question about keeping reflective diary. On the other hand, the teachers involved in this study never keep reflective thinking diary. According to the t-test results which are used in analysing datas, there is not a meanningful difference between the Science Teachers' sex, seniority, type of graduation school and their level of using reflective thinking skills. Similarly, according to the ANOVA test, there is not a meanningful difference between socio-economic situation of the schools in which the teachers are working, and their level of using reflective thinking skills.KEY WORDS Reflective Thinking, Reflective Teacher,
