Abstract (EN)

This study aims to investigate the language and style of the stories of Ferit Edgü, one of our modern storytellers, in terms of syntax and consequently to have an insight into the author's language. An examination of the collective stories "Leş" of Edgü will contribute to the description of syntactic features of Turkish language. The scope of the study is limited to the book titled "Leş", which is a collection of short stories written by Edgü from 1953 to 2002. In line with the purpose of the study, word groups have been named and classified, and the criteria have been identified which determine the formation of such elements in sentences as verb, subject, adverb, adverbial phrase and place adverbials through the methods of document examination and classification. After the words have been divided into groups and evaluated according to their verbs, meaning and order of the elements, the groups of words have then been classified within themselves and examined by taking into consideration how they are used in sentences. Discussions and evaluations have been made on how the linguistic features of his works form the style of Ferit Edgü. In the introduction part, remarks have been made on the purpose and significance of the study followed by information on the life, art and works of Edgü. In word groups section, details are provided on word groups with samples from the stories to show which functions they serve in sentences. In sentence section, views of some researchers on the classification of sentences are provided, and sentences are evaluated in terms of their type, place, structures and meanings. In conclusion part, evaluations have been made on language and style of Edgü. In conclusion, it has been observed that Ferit Edgü benefits from a formal and linguistically rich narrative technique. Among the formal features that stand out in the language and style of Edgü are the uniqueness of the form, narration, fiction, formal and linguistic concerns, and that he avoids artificialness when describing events and situations and does not use unnecessary words.
