Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study, Fusion-free(rope) to compare post-surgery trunk muscle endurance, stading balance, trunk muscle strenght, normal range of motion and quality of life in individuals who have undergone vertebral body tethering surgery and normal healthy individuals. Twenty adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and 20 healthy individuals between the ages of 11-18 who were 3 months to 3 years after surgery were included in the study. Lumba region flexibility evaluation was performed using tape measure, Lumbal region range of motion evaluation was performed using goniometer. While evaluating muscle endurance in individuals, Kraus Weber test was used for lumbar flexors and Biering-Sorensen test was used for extensors. The one-leg standing test was applied in two different ways as eyes open and closed for the evaluation of balance in individuals. Scoliosis Research Society-22 revised (SRS-22r) scale was used to evaluate the quality of life in individuals. The Short Form-36 (SF-36) scale was used in both groups to compare with healthy individuals. There was no significant difference in lumbar region range of motion, flexibility, muscle endurance and balance (p> 0.05). Quality of life, energy / vitality / vitality and general health perception scores were found to be significantly higher in the patient group compared to healthy participants (p <0.05). Physical function, physical role difficulty, emotional role difficulty, mental health, social functionality, and pain scores in quality of life do not differ significantly in the patient group compared to healthy participants (p> 0.05). Measurements of lumbar muscle strength, back extensors, lateral trunk flexors, atrial trunk flexors, and oblique trunk flexors were significantly lower in the patient group compared to healthy participants (p <0.05). Result; there is a need for evaluations that include the positive results of the Vertebral Body Tethering surgery, and flexibility, balance and endurance before and after surgery.
