Abstract (EN)

Background and Aim: Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), the most common mesenchymal tumor of the gastrointestinal tract, differ in a widerange of clinical and prognostic aspects, and treatment choices also differ in this proportion. Studies have revealed some of the factors affecting the characteristic behavior of GISTs, and appropriate treatment approaches have been proposed. This study aims to reveal the clinical presentation, prognostic characteristics, treatment selection of GIST patients, and the ireffectiveness on them. Materialand Methods: Inourcenter, a total of 116 patients who were diagnosed withhistologically accurate GIST between 2010 and 2019, whom treatment and follow-up data were available, have been retrospectively examined. Results:Male / female ratio 1.3; median age 62;the most common place was the stomach, but also such as kidneys, adrenal glands, and gall bladder were also found as atypical settlements. Although clinical presentation differed depending on location and tumor size, the most common reference symptom was abdominal pain. The prognosis was worse in the presence of necrosis, while CD 34 positive patients were found to have a better prognosis. For KI 67, the cut-off value was evaluated as 5.5, and tumors below this value were found to have a better prognosis.Risk estimates of AFIP risk classification, where location, tumor size, and mitotic index were taken as criteria, were also valid in ourstudy. Conclusion:Surgical treatment, whose obvious benefit on survival has been proven many times before and also in this study, should be applied to all possible patients. In patients who cannot be performed surgery, Tyrosinekinase inhibitors(TKIs), mainly Imatinib, are successfully used. For appropriate patients election in adjuvant therapy, risk classification should be done most accurately. Keywords: Prognostic factors, Survival, Risk classification, Tyrosinekinase inhibitors
